Billy who?

Tuesday proved to be fairly eventful... I went back to work, Mom and Dad left for Goshen, and Mel and Linda went to the first checkup for Bella. The docs ran a blood lab to test her billyruben (sp?) levels. Unfortunately, she tested outside the acceptable parameters, and they sent her to Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters (aptly named, I thought, for my little girl) to have some further testing done. The upper limit for release is 20, and Bella tested 20.4, so we had to spend the night in the hospital. Bella spent the night under these two spotlights with a hilarious looking sleepmask. The most stressful part of our stay, (beside the fact that only Mel was entitled to the meals and lil ol Dad gets the leftover scraps) was watching Bella's IV nurse stuggle to start her IV. Fortunately, I'm fairly confident Bella's still too young to develop an aversion to needles. They released us today around 2:30pm and arranged to have a "billy blanket" set up at the house. So now Bella is sleeping on a little blanket that glows in the dark and is scheduled to have a followup visit first thing in the morning.

Poor little Bella! And poor Mommy and Daddy! It's so hard to see such a little one in pain and feel so helpless. Praise the Lord for the technology today to help with jaundice.
Oh, by the way, the correct spelling is "bilirubin".
We are praying for all of you!

We went thru the same thing with Alayna. We just went thru a different procedure to correct it. Thankfully it so correctable and in a fairly short amount of time.
